Interior Designer
About Us
We transform historic homes in Upstate New York into design-forward short-term rentals. Our properties are character-rich, thoughtfully curated, and built to deliver standout guest experiences. Our design process is highly creative and intuitive — but we’re ready to add more structure. We’re looking for an interior designer who can not only help bring our design visions to life, but also help build the back-end systems and processes that will allow us to scale.
What You’ll Do
- Translate high-level creative direction into detailed drawing sets (floor plans, electrical/lighting layouts, elevations, etc.)
- Create 2D and 3D renderings of designs for review, approvals, and contractor reference
- Select and source materials, finishes, fixtures, furniture, and decor that align with our design direction and budget
- Prepare contractor-ready documentation with exact placement of light boxes, outlets, switches, etc.
- Help build foundational systems for design operations — including spec sheet templates, installation guides, FF&E schedules, and internal SOPs
- Communicate with Project Managers as needed for measuring, design walkthroughs, or staging
- Travel to Upstate NY to help style and prep spaces for photoshoots and guest arrivals
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture (required)
- Experience with residential renovations (hospitality experience is a plus)
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, or similar)
- Strong technical skills (you can confidently create contractor-ready documentation)
- Deep design sensibility: you understand scale, balance, and how to blend old and new seamlessly
- Based locally or willing to travel to our properties
- Highly organized and self-directed — you’ll be building our internal systems from the ground up. If you apply (instructions below), include a P.S. telling me who your favorite interior designer is — just a little detail to help us spot the people who actually read the full listing.
Bonus Points If You
- Have experience working with historic homes
- Have helped develop design operations or SOPs before
- Are excited about small teams, high standards, and beautiful, thoughtful spaces
Location
Remote (bonus points for being driving distance from NY state)
Type
Part-Time or Freelance with potential to grow
Compensation
Per-project basis + opportunity for full-time employment after 12 months
